Simon Jones joined DAC Beachcroft in September 2016 having spent 8 years as Managing Partner of the London office of a US firm.
Simon specialises in high value subrogation claims on behalf of London Market and international insurers. He has handled a wide variety of complex claims both in this jurisdiction and worldwide, from those involving property damage to recoveries of fraudulently misappropriated assets on behalf of fidelity insurers.
Simon also has considerable experience of insurance coverage / defence issues generally and has successfully litigated major loss cases in the High Court (Buncefield, Resource America v Platt) and matters of insurance market interest, such as application of the Marine Insurance Act; Heath Lambert Ltd v Sociedad de Corretaje de Seguros, (Court of Appeal).
Other examples of Simon's work include:
successful high value subrogation claim against Italian defendant arising from an industrial oven explosion;
successfully representing subrogated insurers in an action against a Swedish security company. Claim based on security company’s breach of contract in failing properly to monitor alarms systems contributing to theft of insured’s high value jewellery;
successfully representing insurers in recovery investigation relating to fraudulent bank transfers by Russian nationals. Included tracing funds to banks in Moscow, working in Moscow with both US Secret Service and FSB (formerly KGB) and providing evidence before Russian officials of insurers’ rights of subrogation.
