Aviation and aerospace

Our growing team of lawyers across the globe provides huge depth and breadth of expertise across aviation and aerospace – to defend, litigate, subrogate, advise and ultimately protect the aviation insurance market.

Overview

We are particularly focused upon providing aviation advice to the insurance industry, acting for insurers, reinsurers and assisting brokers where needed – including claims defence and coverage work and a successful subrogation offering. We have a rich seam of experience advising on aviation and aerospace claims, conducting litigation and guiding operators and insurers across a wide range of jurisdictions globally.

Through a network of our own offices and international alliances, we are well-placed to serve you wherever you are operating. We have wide experience of the multi-jurisdictional aspects which increasingly arise. We understand the need for focused local knowledge and we adopt a constructive hands-on approach from the outset.

Our focus is on eight core areas – airline, general aviation, airport/MRO, product liability, coverage, subrogation, drones and space. We have specialists who can assist with everything from volume personal injury claims and complex fatal accidents to property damage losses and third party recovery actions, all on an emergency basis when needed.

Featured experience

  • Acting for reinsurers following crash of Bolivian operator LaMia’s flight 2933 (Avro RJ85) near Medellin, Colombia in November 2016, with the Chapecoense football team on board.
  • Successful challenge to the jurisdiction of the English court for product manufacturer defendants in a claim flowing from the total loss of an off-shore helicopter in Brazil.
