All lawyers on our German Desk are fluent in German and English and many of them are native speakers or dual qualified. They understand local commercial customs and legal risks, and can communicate and explain the differences, opportunities and challenges in a manner and language which is easily understood.

We provide clients with a fully fluent German speaking contact lawyer, who will quickly become familiar with your business and aspirations. We then guide you through all aspects of commercial dealings, whether you are first establishing a business abroad or expanding.

We pride ourselves on giving practical, decisive and pro-active advice and offer a variety of charging structures to suit your requirements, ranging from traditional hourly rate based advice to a legal helpdesk service for a fixed monthly fee, which covers the full range of services offered in the respective country.

Our lawyers are members of several Chambers of Commerce in Austria and Germany and have collaborated with them in publishing guides on “Doing Business with the UK”. We have also hosted events together with these Chambers and the Department for Business and Trade to promote trade between the UK and German speaking countries.

We regularly advise internationally operating businesses, financial institutions and other organisations. We are therefore fully familiar with the issues faced by them when operating abroad and frequently advise on:

  • Establishing or acquiring companies.
  • Cross-border contracts and trade.
  • Cross-border disputes and enforcements of judgments.
  • Jurisdiction and “choice of law” clauses.
  • International construction projects, including FIDIC, NEC and bespoke construction contracts.
  • International trade after Brexit.
