Richard specialises in serious regulatory crime cases particularly in the field of health, safety and environmental law. He is the head of HSE Insurer within the Regulatory product at DAC Beachcroft. He is regularly involved in cases in the immediate aftermath of a serious incident and advises companies, partnerships and individuals through the criminal investigatory process ensuring the very best outcome for those involved, both in terms of their reputation and financially.

He has 30 years’ experience advising clients across a range of sectors including construction, engineering food and leisure and agriculture. He works for many of the leading insurers in the market and corporates of all sizes.

He is an experienced advocate and regularly represents clients in court. He has a particular expertise in dealing with fatalities and has represented clients at over 175 inquests.

He regularly provides talks and thought leadership to clients in the area of health and safety. He also provides corporates with strategic risk and health and safety management advice.

Relevant experience includes:

• Advising a large corporate in relation to safety issues in relation to cladding safety on its commercially let residential premises.
• Representing a company in respect of alleged corporate manslaughter following a fatality following a wall collapse.
• Advising a recycling company in relation to alleged corporate manslaughter following the death of an employee in a machine.
