Overview

International law firm DAC Beachcroft has made leadership changes in Madrid, appointing José María Pimentel as Location Head and Pablo Guillén as Practice Head for its Madrid office.

José María Pimentel, a partner in the firm's Insurance practice, takes over as Location Head from José María Álvarez-Cienfuegos. His three-year term began on 1 May 2025. Pimentel is an expert in defending personal injury and professional liability claims.

Pablo Guillén, also a partner in the firm’s Insurance practice, succeeds Gustavo Blanco as Practice Head. Guillén advises both Spanish and international insurance and reinsurance companies and specializes in defending claims related to financial lines, financial institutions, professional liability, and reinsurance.

Both José María and Pablo will also continue to lead their respective practice areas while maintaining the exceptional level of service that has positioned them as key figures in the insurance sector.

Commenting on his appointment as Location Head, José María said, “The team and capabilities of our Madrid office have grown significantly since I joined DACB over 20 years ago. We have established ourselves as the leading firm in insurance and healthcare law in Spain. We face the future with great optimism thanks to our excellent team of professionals and the continued support of our clients.

"This appointment is an exciting challenge, and I hope to build on the successes achieved by José María Álvarez-Cienfuegos and Gustavo Blanco in recent years. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity and the trust my partners have placed in me.”

Pablo added, “Since returning to DACB in 2021, we have continued to strengthen our presence in the insurance and healthcare markets both nationally and internationally. This has allowed us to maintain our leadership position and significantly grow our business activity.

"I look forward to working with José María and the rest of the DACB Madrid partners to further develop our business strategy and continue being the trusted, go-to firm for our clients. I would also like to thank José María Álvarez-Cienfuegos and Gustavo Blanco for their trust, outstanding leadership and ongoing support.”

DACB’s Madrid office offers a wide range of services locally and internationally, including dispute resolution, medical malpractice, litigation and arbitration, and cyber risk.  The office is located on Paseo de Recoletos, in the heart of Madrid's city centre.
