Overview

International law firm DAC Beachcroft has launched a new office in Argentina, continuing its global expansion at pace. With this latest international office, in Buenos Aires, the firm now has a Latin American presence in Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico, as well as an office in Miami and a wide network of associations in more than ten other countries in the region.

DACB’s Argentina office is headed by partner Martín Argañaraz, who joins from Allende & Brea where he has been, for more than 15 years, the partner in charge of the insurance and reinsurance department.  Top ranked for insurance in both the Chambers and Legal 500 Latin America guides, Martín specialises in claims-related issues (judicial and arbitration disputes), as well as corporate and regulatory advice for regional and international insurers, reinsurers and brokers.

In addition, Martín is a member of the City of Buenos Aires Bar Association and the Association Internationale de Droit des Assurances.

“Martín is very well known to us and is an outstanding lawyer and a stalwart figure in the Latin American insurance market and internationally,” said Gustavo Blanco, DAC Beachcroft’s Head of International Business.  “We are excited to have him on board as we build on our success to date in Latin America and further our ambition of being the international law firm of choice for the global insurance industry.”

Martín is joined at DACB by partner María José Sánchez, a highly experienced lawyer who brings with her more than a decade’s experience acting for insurers and reinsurers.  María José has experience working in insurance companies, top-tier law firms and serving as Assistant Manager of the Argentine Insurance Regulator.

Martin and María José are joined by a team of associates.

DAC Beachcroft’s Managing Partner, David Pollitt, said, “Following our launch in Italy earlier this year, significant growth in recent months across Europe and Asia-Pacific, and now a new presence in LatAm, we are better placed than ever to meet the needs of our clients in the locations where they need us to be.”

“With Martín and the team on board, we are looking forward to hitting the ground running in Argentina,” said Andrés Amunátegui, Head of Latin America at DAC Beachcroft.  “This is a key location for our clients and another jewel in DACB's LatAm crown as we start a new and exciting phase of our LatAm expansion, strengthening our regional services and adding new lines of business offerings.  We have not finished here – there is more to come in the region in the next few months.”

Martín added, “I have worked with DAC Beachcroft for a number of years and have been impressed with their reputation in and commitment to the LatAm region and beyond.  I’m confident that our clients will benefit from the international platform and global insurance sector expertise DACB offers.”

DACB’s international expansion has picked up pace in recent months.  In February 2023, the firm launched in Italy, opening offices in Milan and Rome that provide clients with insurance and dispute resolution capabilities, as well as advisory and corporate regulatory expertise.  In addition, a cooperation agreement signed in summer 2022 expanded DACB’s relationship with existing Legalign Global partner BLD Bach Langheid Dallmayr, the market-leading insurance and liability law firm in Germany, to give the two firms more lawyers in Europe than any other insurance-focused law firm.  In Asia-Pacific, DACB recently increased its partner headcount in Singapore, expanding the support it is able to give clients in the region.

DAC Beachcroft has one of the largest insurance practices of any law firm in the UK, operating from eleven UK locations, as well as internationally from offices in Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, the United States, Singapore, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and, together with BLD, Germany.  It is also a founding member of Legalign Global, the alliance of best-in-region law firms working as one for multinational insurers, brokers and businesses in addressing cross-border risks and claims.
