Leading international law firm DAC Beachcroft has been named in the list of 'Top 10 Employers for Working Families' for 2024.
The list is compiled annually by Working Families, the UK’s national work-life balance charity, and is based on an assessment of the UK’s top family-friendly employers.
Organisations from across the public, private and third sectors, are scored against a benchmark to build a comprehensive picture of their flexible and family-friendly policies and practices that specifically support working mothers, fathers, and carers.
DACB has implemented a variety of policies, programmes and initiatives which support its people in balancing their commitments outside of work, and which have helped to increase the firm's leadership diversity. This includes steps to ensure gender balance on its partner development programmes, the delivery of inclusion training to team leaders, and greater support for maternity returners.
In 2023 the firm implemented two new policies, which cover pregnancy loss and fertility treatment, to enhance the family-friendly support offered to colleagues. DACB's 'Flex Forward' programme, which offers a more flexible approach to working hours, also continues to support the firm's people in finding a better balance between responsibilities at home and responsibilities in the workplace.
The firm has also found creative ways to support inclusion, such as its award-winning ‘Reconnect’ programme, which helps legal professionals considering a return to the profession after a period of time away, for instance to have a family or provide care.
David Pollitt, DACB’s Managing Partner, commented, "We are committed to attracting and retaining talent by providing a supportive culture where our people can thrive, and an environment in which everyone has the same opportunities to progress. This requires conscious effort, collaboration and determination, and I'm thrilled that our efforts have been recognised."
