Helen advises on real estate asset management, acquisitions, and disposals, commercial real estate development, structured real estate transactions, and real estate finance. She has particular experience in the retail sector and has advised on multiple shopping centre sales and purchases. 

Helen leads the DACB team acting for Royal London, having been re-appointed to their panel in 2021 following an association with their property portfolio going back to 2007. She manages the delivery of legal services to Royal London across all the firm’s service lines including asset management, property litigation, construction, commercial contracts, and corporate wrapper transactions. 

In her role as head of the firm’s commercial real estate service, she is responsible for a national team of over 40 lawyers providing commercial real estate legal services to both public and private sector clients across the offices, retail, logistics, and healthcare sectors. 

Featured experience:

• Advising Lendlease on the disposal of Touchwood Shopping Centre (£90m) and the retail elements of their mixed-use Elephant Park scheme in South London (£31m), coordinating multi-disciplinary teams across tax, construction, IP, employment, and property litigation 

• Representing Royal London on the acquisition of a 50% interest in centre:mk, Milton Keynes for £140m by way of the purchase of units in a Jersey Unit Trust, including establishing reliance on a satisfactory package of due diligence materials covering legal title, the occupational interests and state and condition, with the seller's liability being capped and supported by a W&I policy 

• Advising WeWork on the acquisition of over 135,000 sq. ft of Central London office space across nine locations, including development of a standardised leasing model deployed across panel firms 

• Working with Derwent London on disposals of multi-let office buildings on the fringe of the City of London
