Overview

International law firm DAC Beachcroft is piloting CoCounsel Legal, an agentic AI solution purpose-built for legal professionals by Thomson Reuters, to explore how the technology can enhance the way its lawyers work and deliver services to clients.

The pilot is assessing CoCounsel Legal's performance across everyday legal tasks, including legal research, document review, drafting, and summarising complex materials. Lawyers are evaluating the accuracy and quality of the outputs, as well as the efficiency gains offered by the platform's suite of legally focused AI capabilities. The firm is also testing how seamlessly CoCounsel Legal integrates with the curated legal resources available through Thomson Reuters.

DAC Beachcroft views AI not as a replacement for lawyers, but as an opportunity to enhance legal expertise, strengthen client relationships, and support smarter, more collaborative ways of working. The pilot forms part of DACB's wider strategy to upskill its people and explore a balanced portfolio of tools that can elevate the quality and speed of legal service delivery.

Marie Armstrong, Chief Operating Officer at DACB, said, "Our pilot with CoCounsel Legal is accelerating our learning around ways to deploy AI safely on client matters and share the value creation with them. We have been impressed by Thomson Reuters' collaborative approach and their willingness to work with us on real client challenges. Together, we are exploring solutions that blend professional‑grade legal AI with the deep client knowledge and expert critical thinking of our lawyers."

The pilot will run across several sectors and practice areas, with insights informing the firm's broader approach to responsible, effective adoption of advanced legal AI technologies.
