  • Biography

    Steve’s employment law practice spans across a multitude of sectors, but with particular focus on financial services, retail/consumer, real estate, clean energy, and government/public sector.

    He has vast experience in helping his clients manage and navigate all facets of employment law, including disciplinaries, grievances, performance/absence management, settlements/exits (including ACAS Early Conciliation), restructuring/redundancy, TUPE, contractual drafting/contractual changes, and drafting/reviewing policies/procedures. During his career, Steve has also been entrusted with secondments to two businesses, including a FTSE 100 retailer, and global financial services firm.

    Steve is also an employment litigation specialist, and since his qualification in 2013 has represented a significant number of clients in both the Tribunal and Employment Appeals Tribunal. Steve is well recognised for his abilities in defending complex litigation for his clients, including claims such as unfair dismissal, discrimination, harassment, victimisation, and whistleblowing.

    Steve also often delivers training for his clients on all facets of contentious and non-contentious employment law.

    Featured experience:

    • Representing a global financial services business in defence to claims of unfair dismissal and philosophical belief discrimination 
    • Representing a financial services business in defence to a group of 23 claims for enhanced redundancy, valued at c.£1.5m 
    • Successfully defending claims of unfair dismissal and whistleblowing against a leading social housing provider 
    • Representing a FTSE 100 retailer in two EAT matters regarding appeals against ET findings on unfair dismissal, rights to be accompanied, and Tribunal compensation awards 
    • Representing seven government departments in securing a civil restraining order in the High Court against a serial litigant to prevent the bringing of any further claims in the ET and EAT 
    • Helping manage a new clean energy business start-up, including drafting offer letters, contracts, and bonus provisions/LTIPs
