    Olya Melnitchouk has extensive experience in acting for manufacturers, hospitals and insurers faced with product liability claims.

    Olya has acted for clients in the pharmaceutical and health care sectors in numerous product liability disputes involving medicines, medical devices and other consumer products. She has been involved in high profile multi-party product liability actions, including the MMR vaccine litigation. Olya is highly experienced in advising insurers and pharmaceutical companies with respect to claims arising out of clinical trials. She also has significant experience advising clients in numerous ophthalmic claims.

    Olya provides advice to clients in relation to UK and European regulatory requirements concerning safety and liability for products across various industry sectors, ranging from medical devices and pharmaceuticals to food, electrical appliances, toys and clothing. Olya can also advise clients on the applicable advertising laws, codes and sanctions, and she has provided strategic advice to medical device clients with respect to competitor advertising claims.

    In addition, Olya has extensive experience defending personal injury claims, ranging from small claims to those involving catastrophic injuries, as well as representing manufacturers in Coroner’s Inquests. She has acted on behalf of medical defence organisations, public and private hospitals, and individual health care professionals in a range of clinical negligence and profesional conduct matters.

    Olya has published many articles in the fields of product liability, life sciences and medical law. She is also a key contributor to DACB’s Autonomous Vehicles and Connected Devices initiative.

    Olya is ranked in the Legal Directories and is listed as a ‘Next Generation’ lawyer and ‘Rising Star’ in recent editions of the Legal 500. She was also named a Rising Star in the UK by the International Financial Law Review’s (IFLR) Rising Stars Awards EMEA 2021 in the field of Product Liability.
