Regarding insurance and reinsurance, Joel is well versed in providing defence for insurers in coverage and bad faith cases nationally in both federal and state levels. Joel is highly experienced in litigating matters involving claims for defence and indemnity under liability policies, and property damage and business interruption under property policies. Representing insurers, Joel often works on suits alleging bad faith and unfair claim settlement practices, as well as suits seeking exemplary damages. Joel also counsels clients on claim handling and regulatory compliance, and represents both admitted and surplus lines insurers as well as primary and excess insurers.

For business litigation, Joel represents and counsels clients in practice areas such as commercial, aviation, construction, and securities. He assists clients in breaches of contract, breaches of fiduciary duties, fraud, conversion, civil theft, and deceptive and unfair trade practices. For business transactions, Joel represents and advises clients in the negotiation of agreements, entity formation, and the creation of organizational and business contracts. He has also been heavily involved in purchase agreements, distribution agreements, employment agreements, and operating agreements.
