Jodie is a Legal Director with over a decade of experience advising insurers and reinsurers on complex, high-value coverage and defence matters across the Middle East, with a particular focus on the UAE and wider GCC. Her practice spans both first- and third-party claims, frequently involving multi-jurisdictional issues, technical policy interpretation and contentious proceedings. Jodie’s focus is now on all aspects of technical insurance coverage work across a range of business lines including Financial Lines, Casualty, Property and Medical Malpractice.

  • Biography

    Jodie advises local and international insurers and reinsurers on a broad range of insurance lines, including property (all risks and business interruption), casualty, financial lines (professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’ liability, bankers blanket bond, financial crime) and medical malpractice. 

    She regularly handles high-value and complex matters, with a particular focus on technical coverage advice.

    She has significant experience in both advisory and defence work across the GCC, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Jordan. 

    Jodie combines private practice experience with in-house insight gained as a Senior Claims Specialist within the Financial and Professional Lines team of a leading international insurance group. This background gives her a strong understanding of insurers’ commercial and claims-handling priorities. 

    Featured experience:

    • Advises insurers and reinsurers on coverage and claims strategy for property losses arising from major loss events, including the April 2024 UAE floods (AED 2 billion+) and significant fire losses across the GCC, as well as Covid-19-related property damage and business interruption claims. 
    • Advises on complex, high-value and multi-jurisdictional disputes, including a USD 2 billion casualty insurance claim relating to oil pipeline damage and sensitive matters involving high-profile individuals with cross-border elements. 
    • Advises insurers and reinsurers on technical coverage issues arising from professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’ and crime claims, including high-volume notifications with significant aggregate exposure. 
    • Acted as part of the defence team in Diwan Capital Limited (In Liquidation) v various directors, the first derivative shareholder action before the DIFC Courts (USD 18 million claim). 
    • Advises medical professionals, hospitals and clinics across the GCC on contentious medical malpractice matters, including regulatory, civil and criminal proceedings, with a focus on complex policy coverage issues.
