Lisa has significant and broad expertise in defending commercial litigation cases before the Irish Courts to include the Commercial Court, Competition Court and Court of Appeal.
Lisa has also acted on behalf of State Agencies and has advised them in relation to administrative, regulatory and enforcement issues. She recently acted for a State Regulator before the Irish Competition (High) Court and subsequently the Supreme Court in a very high profile decision based on a challenge to its powers of search and seizure arising from a dawn raid. She also routinely advises state agencies in relation to their obligations under Freedom of Information legislation.
Lisa has also advised parties required to make submissions and/or give evidence to various different state inquiries such as the Banking Tribunal and the Commission of Investigation into the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation and has also advised on ongoing Central Bank Inquiries. She chairs one of the Independent Tracker Mortgage Appeal Panels established by Allied Irish Bank.
In relation to Commercial Disputes, Lisa has advised and represented parties involving in disputes concerning the breach of their contractual rights, actions for negligent misstatement and failure to warn. She also has a wide variety of experience defending cross jurisdictional litigation in the product liability sphere and has previously been involved in the blood product, tobacco and benzodiazepine litigation in Ireland. Lisa also has cross jurisdictional expertise in relation to multi jurisdictional litigation involving financial services.
Lisa routinely acts on behalf of parties in substantial property disputes. Such disputes can include advising on judicial reviews or oral hearings relating to planning issues, matters arising from neighbor and landlord and tenant disputes and arbitrations necessitated by the service of schedules of dilapidations post the termination of commercial leases.
Finally Lisa regularly advises on E-Discovery (disclosure) issues and issues relating to legal professional privilege and lectures regularly to the Law Society and other groups in relation to these matters. Lisa is a Committee Member of the Commercial Litigation Association of Ireland ('CLAI') and a co-author of the CLAI Good Practice Discovery Guide. She is also part of a sub committee of the CLAI established to seek reform to the existing Court Rules concerning discovery.
