Biography
Louise has over 15 years’ experience representing healthcare professionals at inquests and in investigations by their professional regulatory bodies.
She regularly supports healthcare professionals during fitness to practise investigations by their regulators including the GMC, NMC, GDC, HCPC, GCC, GOsC, GOC, BACP and UKCP, in a broad range of cases involving health, conduct, professional performance, and probity.
She also regularly represents organisations at complex and high‑profile inquests, with a particular focus on healthcare, and supports organisations in serious incident and patient safety investigations.
Alongside her court and regulatory work, Louise provides practical, day‑to‑day advice to healthcare professionals and organisations on regulatory, clinical governance and patient safety matters.
Louise was appointed as Assistant Coroner for the County of Devon, Plymouth and Torbay in 2017.
Featured experience:
- Spencer v General Osteopathic Council [2012] - successful application to the High Court on behalf of Dr Spencer in respect of the meaning and application of ‘unacceptable professional conduct’. Now the leading case law on UPC for GOsC and GCC.
