Kai is a German-born solicitor advocate in the firm's Bristol office, fluent in both English and German. He works in the Property Risk Solutions team and is also a leading member of the firm's German Desk.
Specialising in dispute resolution, Kai frequently pursues property damage claims for insurers following incidents of fire or flooding. In November 2015, he acted for a health facility in a flooding claim, in proceedings before the Technology and Construction Court, and settled the claim (including costs) in the sum of £510,000.
Kai is also responsible for advising on cross-border litigation between the UK and German speaking countries. In June 2016, he acted for an Austrian bank as the claimant before the Commercial Court in London and secured a default judgment for more than £214,000.
Since September 2012, Kai has been teaching module 1 of the Law and Contract Management course at the Institution of Civil Engineers, a course designed to help civil engineers become arbitrators.
Kai has also served as the Regional Head of the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany (BCCG), a position in which he actively promotes trade between the UK and Germany.
