David Kennedy

David specialises in insurance defence work, advising clients on a wide variety of matters concerning public liability, employers liability, defamation, defective products, motor, professional negligence and coverage disputes.

He has over 10 years’ experience advising an array of both domestic and London Market insurer clients in respect of personal injury litigation in the UK and Ireland in particular. David has a wide range of experience dealing with matters in the District Court, Circuit Court and High Court throughout Ireland, including low value claims and high value and complex cases.

David’s experience in advising international insurers in the UK and Ireland means that he is expert in understanding and translating the key differences between the jurisdictions and tailoring advice to clients accordingly.

Relevant experience includes:

• Achieving the dismissal of a high profile fraudulent public liability High Court case for a major petrol court fuel retailer.
• Defending a number of defamation and false imprisonment matters for UK based insurers with exposure to the Irish retail and publican market.
• Acting for insurers in both property damage and the prosecution of recovery actions.
• Setting up and managing a bespoke Third Party Administrator (TPA) product for a London Market Insurer.
• Liaising with and reporting to Lloyds Brokers in respect of the maintenance of Electronic Clams Files (ECF).
• Designing, managing and up-keeping multiple Management Information (MI) databases for large insurer clients with an emphasis on ensuring compliance with reserving philosophies and data provision.
• Managing a number of run-off books for insurers with an emphasis on quick claims resolution within reserve.

David is a member of the Law Society of Ireland and qualified to practise in both the Republic of Ireland and England and Wales.
