Barbara Goddard advises on all aspects of injury and disease claims, particularly complex and unusual/high-value employers' liability claims, disease claims, and public/product liability cases.
She heads the London and Winchester Disease teams, and has specialist experience of asbestos, occupational cancer and poisoning claims. She has a particular interest in new and emerging trends in the disease arena, including occupational cancer. Also, she advises in relation to legionnaire's claims.
Barbara has extensive experience of asbestos litigation within the Royal Court of Justice including the reported case of Horsley v (1) Cascade Insulation Services Ltd (2) C&D (Insulation Operations) Ltd & (3) Pinnacle Services Ltd., which dealt with the issue of contributory negligence for smoking in an asbestosis case.
She also specialises in cases with a complex company or insurance history, and claims from USA based companies. Barbara deals with claims for a number of large and well known corporate clients, and has a full understanding of their complex and challenging insurance history.
Barbara is responsible for supervising employers' liability work and work within the disease team. Barbara has dealt with and supervised the conduct of all claims for a major client for many years, including their pre-issue and uninsured work. Barbara also has experience of dealing with Health and Safety prosecutions, and works with the Strategic Litigation Unit on disease related claims and issues.
