DAC Beachcroft's international insurance team for Latin America has once again retained its top rankings in the recently published 2021 Chambers Guide to Latin America.

For Latin America-wide work, the firm has retained its Band 1 ranking in recognition of the extensive service it provides to insurers and reinsurers, with a particular strength in advising on complex and high-value claims. Partners Anthony Menzies and Mark Kendall are individually ranked in Band 2. Mark has this year been added as a leading individual and is singled out for praise by clients, who highlight "his solid expertise in complex claims". Duncan Strachan is also ranked in Band 3.

In Chile, the firm achieved a Band 2 ranking. Office managing partner and Latin America Head, Andrés Amunátegui, is also ranked in Band 2.

The firm's Colombia office is similarly ranked in Band 2 with Camila de la Torre awarded a Band 2 ranking and recognised for "years of experience in the insurance and litigation spheres". Ana Catalina Restrepo is also highlighted as an ‘up-and-coming practitioner’. DAC Beachcroft Mexico is also ranked.

The strong set of rankings are announced at a time when DAC Beachcroft has made several strategic moves, which demonstrate the firm’s commitment to international expansion to meet the needs of its clients.

DAC Beachcroft has made a number of strategic hires. Leading insurance partner Miguel Ángel de la Fuente joined the firm’s Mexico City office in September. Earlier this year the firm also welcomed dispute resolution expert Mercedes Romero in Madrid and leading insurance partner Ana Catalina Restrepo in Bogota.

At the beginning of 2020 the firm also joined forces with Spanish law firm Asjusa, adding three partners and a 20-strong team of healthcare-focused professional liability and insurance lawyers to its Madrid office. Partner-led competition and corporate/commercial teams have also been added in Dublin.

With one of the largest insurance practices of any law firm in the UK, DAC Beachcroft operates from eleven UK locations and internationally from offices in Ireland, Spain, France, the United States, Singapore, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile. The firm is also a founding member of Legalign Global, a closely integrated alliance of four multi-national law firms with 60 offices across the globe.
