Overview

DAC Beachcroft has supported the Metropolitan Police Service (the Met) to ensure the continued servicing and maintenance of its fleet of light commercial vehicles.

Rivus Fleet Solutions Limited had provided fleet management, repairs and maintenance services for the Met, but entered into administration in June 2024 following a period of financial difficulty. A DAC Beachcroft (“DACB”) team, consisting of restructuring, employment and real estate lawyers advised on the transaction.

Immediately following the appointment of PwC as administrators, a sale of the majority of the fleet management company's business and assets to the Met took place. This was an excellent example of DACB’s close working relationship with MPS Legal, Commercial and Operational teams to conclude a deal that safeguards 165 jobs and secured the ongoing delivery of crucial fleet repair and maintenance facilities by enabling the Met to deliver the services in-house.

Cara Sykes, Legal Director who led the DACB legal team, said, "It is never ideal for an organisation to face disruption to a key service, and there are additional concerns when a blue light service is involved.

"The DAC Beachcroft team is delighted that its hard work supporting the determination of the Met has safeguarded jobs and ensured the continued repair and maintenance of police vehicles at this crucial time for the capital."
