William advises developers, employers, contractors, and professional consultants on a wide range of construction and engineering matters. A significant part of his practice involves advising insurers and professionals in the defence of professional indemnity claims, as well as advising insurers on coverage issues. 
 
He has substantial experience in contentious construction matters, acting on high-value and complex multi-party disputes arising from major infrastructure and development projects. These include civil works, hotel developments, oil refineries, chemical plants, shopping centres, waste treatment facilities, and renewable energy projects. His experience includes disputes concerning building safety issues, defective works, negligent design, delay and disruption, loss and expense claims, contract termination, and payment disputes.

• Acting as Project Counsel for a large international luxury hotel owner and operator in relation to the construction of a luxury hotel in London 

• Advising a UK architectural firm and its professional indemnity insurers in relation to a fire safety claim arising out of a large mixed-use development in London 

• Advising a leading engineering and construction firm in an international ICC arbitration concerning defects arising from the construction of an oil refinery in the Caribbean 

• Advising a leading developer and operator of renewable energy across the UK in relation to a number of large contractual disputes with its subcontractors, including claims for extensions of time and prolongation costs arising out of a large wind energy project in Scotland
