Described in Chambers as "everything a client is looking for”, Alan is well respected by clients and fellow professionals and has built a strong reputation for handling complex, high profile, and high value, often multi-party, professional negligence claims on behalf of solicitors and their insurers under the Law Society of Scotland Master Policy Scheme.  

Alan also has in depth experience of resolving professional liability claims and handling regulatory complaints on behalf of accountants, financial advisers, chartered surveyors, estate and forestry managers, and in acting for engineers, architects, and other professionals across the construction sphere. In addition, he advises on policy coverage issues and has defended a number of significant D&O/management liability claims. 

CORE/ADR Group accreditation enables Alan to recognise when it is in his clients’ best interests to adopt creative, solution driven approaches and he regularly represents clients in mediations and other forms of ADR. He is also a Member of the Law Society of Scotland Insurance Committee.
