Ben is a Senior Associate with a broad practice spanning professional indemnity, insurance, incident response, data and privacy, financial services, and commercial disputes. 

Ben regularly advises financial professionals, including accountants, tax advisers and scheme promoters, IFAs, insolvency practitioners, and their London market insurers on complex, high-value claims. His work includes policy coverage advice and supporting larger accountancy practices with disputes and regulatory issues. 

As part of DAC Beachcroft’s Data, Privacy and Cyber team, Ben assists insured entities and corporates with incident response, often involving international considerations, and advises on the resolution of data-related claims.  

Ben has also advised regulated entities on Financial Ombudsman Service complaints, as well as FCA enforcement / supervision issues. 

Ben trained at DAC Beachcroft LLP and has completed a secondment in the Technical Claims Team at a London Market Insurer. 

Featured Experience:

• Advising in relation to high-value claims (often running into the millions) relating to tax schemes and complex tax advice, including mitigation via rescission / rectification, and advising in relation to related recovery actions, including via the Tax Tribunals 

• Advising on and coordinating both UK and international cyber breach responses, varying from small data breaches to significant business-critical ransomware incidents, including managing large data mining and notification exercises for clients across a range of sectors 

• Supporting a financial advisory firm through a significant Skilled Person Review under s.166 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 

• Assisting in the defence of a restitutionary claim by the FCA valued at over £200 million
