Sam has acted on behalf of law firms of all sizes (from high street practices to Top 50 law firms) and for barristers, in defence of civil claims and regulatory investigations. He also has experience defending solicitors who are the subject of criminal investigations and undertaking complex policy coverage investigations.

He also defends claims against accountants and auditors, together with related disciplinary/regulatory proceedings.

Sam has completed secondments to major market insurers. He is known for his technical strength and attention to detail, but also for his commerciality and ability to cut to the nub of an issue to secure a beneficial result for his clients.

• Murithi & Others –v- AVH Legal LLP t/a Tandem Law & Others [2023] EWHC 1245 (KB): acting for the successful first defendant (solicitor) in striking out a multi-handed negligence claim brought by multiple claimants following the conclusion of Mau Mau litigation. 
• Percy –v- Merriman White and Mayall [2022] EWCA Civ 493: acting for the successful barrister defendant/respondent resulting in important Court of Appeal clarification as to the operation of s1(4) of the Civil Liability (Contribution) Act 1978
• Defending a negligence claim against a solicitor following the representation of a member of the UK armed forces accused of murder in the context of alleged war crimes  
• Defending a negligence claim (and related disciplinary proceedings) against an accountant/audit firm brought by a high-profile football club
