Présentation
Jack is a CILEX Advocate at 8DB specialising in civil litigation, with a strong practice in motor injury, credit hire, fundamental dishonesty, and fixed recoverable costs. He has worked in various legal roles since 2018 prior to his role as a full-time advocate, and he holds the distinction of being the first individual to qualify via the CILEX Graduate Qualification (CGQ) Route.
Jack has substantial trial and advocacy experience, having spent five years litigating contested motor claims from inception to trial, followed by three years focused exclusively on advocacy as the Deputy Head of a high-volume advocacy team. This dual perspective gives him a clear strategic advantage and combines this with a pragmatic, results-driven approach at trial.
He regularly appears in Fast Track and Intermediate Track trials, as well as disposal hearings, Stage 3s, CMCs/CCMCs, and complex applications.
Known for his forensic attention to detail, he also combines this with a calm and supportive approach to client care, ensuring that even vulnerable or nervous witnesses can give clear and effective evidence.
Featured experience:
- J v L – Disposal Hearing in Durham County Court where Jack successfully resisted last-minute applications to strike out the claim under Henderson v Henderson, set aside default judgment, and obtain relief from sanctions to rely on basic hire rates evidence
- H v U – Fast Track matter in Bradford County Court involving credit hire charges, where, despite a successful at-the-door application by his opponent to rely on previously undisclosed evidence, Jack secured Judgment in full following examination and submissions together with Part 36 uplifts and interest
- LA v A – Successfully resisted an application to strike out medical evidence under CPR 35.6, establishing that the questions posed were not for 'clarification' and therefore did not trigger the rule
- U v S - Liability trial in Kingston-Upon-Hull involving an “agony of the moment” defence arising from an alleged carjacking; Jack succeeded in securing liability in his client's favour
