Overview

International law firm DAC Beachcroft has expanded its Marine, Energy and Shipping teams with two senior appointments to enhance the firm's global capabilities.

Philippa Langton is joining DACB as a partner from LA Marine (Lester Aldridge), bringing more than 20 years’ experience in commercial shipping and leisure marine. Her practice covers a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters, with particular specialism in charterparty disputes and transactional work. She also brings valuable insight from her background in the protection and indemnity market. In addition, Philippa has significant international capabilities, particularly across Asia‑Pacific, where she supports high‑profile clients on a wide range of commercial and operational issues. Her Mandarin language skills further enhance the support she provides to clients operating in the region.

Miranda Karali joins DACB as a consultant from Clyde & Co, with over three decades of experience in shipping, maritime law and international arbitration. A dual‑qualified lawyer in England and Greece, she has extensive expertise in English litigation and arbitration, along with a deep understanding of Greek business and cross-border legal issues.

The appointments follow those of Simon Jackson and Helen Yiacoumis in 2025, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to expanding its Marine, Energy and Shipping capabilities within its Global Insurance practice.

Simon Jackson, partner and Head of DACB's Marine, Energy and Shipping teams, said, "Philippa’s vast experience in commercial shipping and the Asia‑Pacific region, combined with Miranda’s in-depth knowledge of the Greek market, significantly enhances our global offering. I have worked with Miranda for many years and look forward to continuing our close collaboration, while also seeing the impact Philippa will make as we continue to build momentum across key maritime sectors."

Wai Yue Loh, DACB's Global Head of Shipping, Trade and Commodities, commented, "These appointments reflect our focus on strengthening our presence in strategically important markets. Miranda has an outstanding reputation in the Greek shipping circles, and my former colleague Philippa, whilst based in London, is someone well known to the shipping community in Asia. Collectively they bring considerable expertise that will further elevate our ability to deliver the specialised support our clients expect. We are delighted to welcome them both to the team."
