We act for leading insurers and insureds, and our clients range from some of the largest national networks of financial advisers, mortgage and insurance intermediaries to sole practitioner Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs). We’ve also defended the private banking arms of retail banks, the wealth management businesses of investment banks and leading life insurance companies on claims related to financial advice.
We can handle the full spectrum of claims which financial advisers may face including customer complaints, referrals to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), past business reviews, skilled persons reports, court proceedings and recovery claims by the Financial services Compensation Scheme.
We have advised on mis-selling claims relating to all types of financial products. Our FOS experience includes advice on jurisdiction, case presentation and challenging decisions including via judicial review. We provide strategic advice on handling multiple customer complaints relating to particular product lines or other systemic issues and help mitigate future risks. We also provide support to insurers on coverage issues.
We’re sensitive to broader regulatory and reputational issues applying to firms and individuals. We advise on regulatory concerns relating to claims as well as stressful FCA interventions such as unannounced visits, information requests, interviews and enforcement proceedings, working closely with our team of financial services regulatory specialists.
