Data protection complaints: preparing for 19 June and beyond
Data protection complaints: preparing for 19 June and beyond
The volume of data protection complaints has increased dramatically in the last 12 months, caused by a multitude of factors including ever increasing public awareness and the use of AI systems.
We expect this trend to accelerate from 19 June when new data protection complaints handling requirements enacted by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 come into effect.
In this webinar our experts will discuss:
- The new data protection complaints handling requirements: current market practice and policy reasons behind the changes;
- ICO guidance and expectations: how the regulator will expect complaints to be handled (and how it intends to handle the complaints it receives);
- Practical implementation: how to design and implement your process, including how to deal with complexities which arise from employee complaints; and
- The post-complaint litigation options open to a data subject: what routes might be pursued by a data subject who is not satisfied with the complaint outcome.
