Throughout his career, Joe has acted for the full range of restructuring stakeholders, often in situations of particular complexity. Joe has dealt with cases in the UK, Europe, Asia, and the US, as well as a number of offshore jurisdictions.
Joe joined DACB after the best part of 37 years at another large international firm where he was first employed as an articled clerk in 1985.
Joe serves on the City of London Law Society Insolvency Committee and the Insolvency Lawyers' Association Technical Committee.
Joe's relevant cases include:
- Advising the board of directors of Petrofac Limitedon their rights and obligations in their ongoing efforts to negotiate a multi jurisdiction, multi creditor restructuring following the rejection by the Court of Appeal of their initial restructuring plan proposal
- Advising the board of directors of the Thames Water group on their rights and obligations at all stages of the vigorously contested multi-stakeholder restructuring of that utilities group
- Advising the family office of a high net worth individual on the purchase from The Capital Partnership Group Limited, a company incorporated in Dubai on the purchase of a majority shareholding in TCP-NG Limited, a company incorporated in Cayman, and the ultimate owner of the Delaware based Northgate Capital Partnership venture funds management business. Novating to the purchaser's group revising and re stating the payment terms of various third party liabilities of the group as part of the purchase consideration.
- Acting for CMO Superstores Limited, a member of the AIM-listed Lords Group Trading PLCconstruction group in the acquisition through a prepackaged administration of the business and assets of CMO Stores.com Limited, the UK's largest online-only retailer of construction products
- Advising Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trustin relation to its acquisition of Healthcall SolutionsLimited (”HCS”), pre-acquisition financing and subsequent restructuring options in the light of HCS’ financial position at the time of the acquisition
- Advising Camp Hill Trustee 1 Limitedand Goodstone Livingon their contractual rights and obligations, asst recovery and loss mitigation following the administration of Elements (Europe) Limited, a residential developer in London and the Midlands
- Acting as Investor Advocate in the redress scheme of arrangement proposed by Link Fund Solutions Limited ("LFS") to compromise that company's liabilities following the suspension of redemptions from the LF Woodford Equity Income Fund and the taking of enforcement action against LFS by the Financial Conduct Authority
- Advising a group of three automotive companies ("OEMs") in relation to their exposure to Grainger & Worrall Limited ("G&W") – assisting the three OEMs in the negotiation with all relevant stakeholders of funding and production agreements with G&W
- Advising the Metropolitan Police on the purchase out of administration of Rivus Fleet Solutions Limited, the provider of fleet management and repair services for the Met's fleet of police vehicles
- Advising a special purpose lender on its attempts to restructure and then recover lending to the Guernsey incorporated holding company of two internet retailers, Northcore Limited and Shade Ltd, sellers of sunglasses under the Shade Station name
