Nora Fredstie is an international arbitration partner based in London, recognised for her expertise in complex, high-value disputes worldwide. Dual-qualified as an English solicitor and New York attorney, Nora has extensive experience in investment and commercial arbitration. She advises on disputes across sectors such as life sciences, energy, commodities, and construction, with strategic insight into Nordic parties and markets. She serves as an arbitrator and has been nominated to the ICSID Panel of conciliators.   • Biography

    Nora Fredstie is a recognised authority in international arbitration, with extensive experience in investment and commercial arbitration, as well as public international law. She combines global arbitration expertise with strategic insight into Nordic parties and markets. Nora holds leadership roles within the ICC and Norwegian arbitration community, including chairing ICC Norway’s Arbitration Commission and serving as a delegate to the ICC Commission. 

    Nora advises and represents clients in complex, high-value disputes across sectors such as oil and gas, life sciences, renewable energy, construction, investment, financial, and automotive. Her experience spans arbitrations seated around the world, including North and South America, Asia, and Europe. Nora has handled proceedings under the ICC, ICSID, LCIA, SCC, SIAC, CRCICA, and UNCITRAL arbitration rules. Nora also serves as arbitrator and is appointed to the ICSID Panel of Conciliators. 

    Nora contributes to thought leadership in arbitration, including co-authoring the IBA guide on emergency arbitration. She speaks internationally on arbitration topics and has taught international dispute settlement at leading European universities. Nora has been ranked by Who’s Who Legal since 2020. For 2025 and 2026, Nora was ranked Tier 1 in Lexology’s Global Elite Thought Leaders List for international arbitration. 

    Nora is an Attorney and Counselor at Law in the State of New York, and a Solicitor in England & Wales. She was previously registered with the Paris bar and admitted to the roll of the Irish law society. Her career spans practice in Australia, The Netherlands, Chile, France, and the United Kingdom.

    • Representing a contractor consortium in a US $1.5 billion SIAC arbitration relating to the construction of an oil and petrochemical refinery in South East Asia 
    • Representing a national oil company in two LCIA arbitrations seated in London and governed by Brazilian law 
    • Representing several renewable energy companies in multiple SCC investment arbitrations against the Kingdom of Spain and also in subsequent enforcement and set-aside proceedings
