    Marcus is a corporate lawyer with a focus on transactional and advisory work in the insurance sector. He has significant experience in advising on major transactions in the insurance sector and acts for both life and non-life clients across a broad range of matters including M&A, Part VII transfers, structured (re)insurance arrangements, pension de-risking transactions, and regulatory advice. 

    Featured experience:

    • Advising Lloyds Banking Group Pension Trustees on two longevity swap transactions covering £5.1bn of liabilities 
    • Advising Direct Line on the sale of its brokered commercial insurance business to Intact Insurance for £520m 
    • Advising Pinnacle Insurance Plc on the transfer of its non-life and non-pet general insurance business to EiFlow Insurance Limited in Gibraltar 
    • Advising Pension Insurance Corporation on two simultaneous buy-in transactions 
    • Advising Barclays Bank UK Retirement Fund on its £7bn longevity swap transaction with Prudential Financial Inc 
    • Advising The Prudential Assurance Company Limited on its sale of £12bn of annuity liabilities to Rothesay Life, covering c. 350,000 policyholders 
    • Advising Sampo and Rand Merchant Investment on the £1.66bn recommended cash offer to acquire Hastings Group 
    • Advising Allianz on its £1bn retail insurance joint venture with Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society Limited and its subsequent £578m buy-out of Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society Limited's stake 
    • Advising Athene on a framework buy-in reinsurance agreement with Aviva Life & Pensions UK Limited in respect of £600m liabilities 
    • Advising Catalina on its acquisition of c. £1.3bn employers’ liability portfolio from Zurich Insurance plc 
    • Advising Scottish Equitable on its sale of £6.6bn annuity liabilities to Rothesay Life and a further £3bn of annuity liabilities to Legal & General 
    • Advising Scottish Equitable on the acquisition of Blackrock's UK defined contribution platform and administration business comprising approximately £12bn of assets and 350,000 customers
