Biography
Kai is a construction lawyer. He has been ranked by Chambers UK for four years in a row and he is the course leader for the MBL Certificate in Construction Law.
Kai is also bilingual in English and German. He is the Honorary Consul of Germany in Bristol, serves on the committee of the German Saturday School Bristol, and has published a book on learning German for beginners.
From 2022 to 2024, Kai successfully acted for a contractor in appealing a decision of the Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court (Abbey vs Simply [2024]). The case was important for the UK construction industry because the Supreme Court clarified that collateral warranties are not construction contracts, overruling both the Court of Appeal and another important case authority from 2013 (Parkwood vs Laing [2013]).
