Overview

The amount compensators are required to pay to the Compensation Recovery Unit in relation to treatment provided to injured claimants will increase for injuries suffered on or after 1 April 2024 as follows:

Injuries from 2 October 2023

Injuries from 1 April 2024

Outpatient

£806

£825

Inpatient

£991

£1,014

Ambulance Journey (per Journey)

£243

£249

Maximum

£59,248

£60,610

These increase means that for the first time, inpatient stays (per day) will be recoverable at over £1,000 and the cap on NHS Charges overall, will exceed £60,000.

Bearing in mind the mid-year increase seen in October 2023, this increase represents an increase of at least 4.55% since April 2023 and is reflective of the continued inflationary pressures.

Compensators will need to ensure that their reserves for accidents which occur on or after 1 April 2024 reflect the increased level of charges.
