Data has been described as the new oil, and the opportunities presented to Claimants and their solicitors to seek to recover damages and costs have seen a significant recent increase in the number of claims presented following the loss of personal data. The recent Supreme Court judgment in Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc v Various Claimants is indicative of the appetite of Claimants and their representatives to pursue claims, even when no loss has been caused by the data breach.

We have a dedicated team of specialist lawyers with the expertise to handle claims follow a data breach, enabling us to handle claims from sole Claimants to group actions involving sensitive data and allegations of psychiatric injury.

The Data Breach Team of DAC Beachcroft is unique in offering fee earners from paralegal to Partner who will handle claims arising out of data breaches and the misuse of personal data, working in partnership with our specialist Cyber Response team to assist your insureds in notifying the Information Commissioner where required. We have the resource to service claims from a single breach through to complex psychological injury claims and multi-Claimant group actions and have an in-depth understanding of our clients’ needs such that we can provide a service which is of most benefit to our clients’ business.
