Social mobility and inclusion - DAC Beachcroft

Social mobility and inclusion

We are proud to have taken action on social mobility to enable a decent standard of living by paying a fair wage. This year, we received accreditation as a Living Wage Employer by the Living Wage Foundation. We worked closely with our contractors to make this possible for staff operating on all of our UK premises.

We are also working to improve social mobility by helping disadvantaged young people enhance their employability, and by widening access to the legal profession. DACB provides a wide range of career development opportunities by championing all routes to qualification. The firm runs BPP Business Services and Paralegal Apprenticeships which combine work and study post A-Level. Following the successful completion of a Paralegal Apprenticeship, there is the opportunity to continue this by undertaking a Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship, which lasts 6 years and incorporates a law degree. DAC Beachcroft is also one of the largest employers of members of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) and currently sponsor more than 100 paralegals who are undertaking CILEx qualifications from Level 3 upwards.

Ten percent of our Trainee Solicitor Graduate Programme assessment centre places are earmarked through our Trainee Solicitor Springboard Scheme for applicants from less advantaged backgrounds. We run workshops, mentoring and work experience to encourage a diverse range of student applications through our partnerships with the Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) and Aspiring Solicitors.

The firm’s policy on Diversity & Inclusion is designed to ensure that we reflect the diversity of the communities within which we live and work, and encourage our people to thrive in an inclusive culture. Reconnect: A life that works as you return to law is our returners programme, aimed at lawyers who have taken time away from the law. The Reconnect programme offers mentoring and support for colleagues who are returning to work through our partnership with Women Returners, the return to work market leaders and pioneers of returnships in the UK. Visit our careers pages to learn more. There is a growing number of internal networks designed to increase our inclusion and understanding of one another.
