We are very proud to have won an award in the first year of our newly-designed Responsible Business programme. We were presented with the 2019 HR in Law ‘Best CSR Award’ for our Helpforce volunteering programme with our major client, the NHS.
Now running in Bristol, London, Leeds and Newcastle, some 45 staff are participating in Helpforce volunteering alongside secondary school students. The aim of the programme is to help the NHS provide positive patient and visitor experiences, to encourage young people to consider the NHS as a possible future career choice and to provide wider skills development for the students, who are from disadvantaged backgrounds. 64% of our London school students said they would now consider an NHS career as a result of our Helpforce programme, and 50% said the programme had made them more focused on schoolwork and exams.
The programme has also led to a new client agreement for our Charities practice with the NHS volunteering charity Helpforce, on a ‘low bono’ basis.
