Wendy Hopkins

Having worked at the Firm for c.30 years, Wendy has extensive experience of commercial and insurance dispute resolution, particularly multi-jurisdictional matters and coverage issues arising from global insurance programmes. She advises on complex and international liability, property damage, construction and engineering claims.

Wendy focuses on global product liability and recall matters, including insurance coverage disputes, defence of liability claims, management of product recalls and other corrective action, and cross-border recoveries. She has particular experience of defending group litigation, having acted for manufacturers, suppliers and their insurers in the "Oral Contraceptive", "Toxic Sofa" and "PIP breast implant" group actions, and advised on numerous other “mass tort” claims. She also advises on product safety, labelling and regulatory compliance, including sector-specific legislation. In 2018, her team won the Legal 500 Firm of the Year award for Product Liability and Recall.

Wendy is a member of the International Executive and, as former Head of the Global London practice group, has been heavily involved in the Firm’s international expansion and establishment of its alliance network. She leads the Firm’s China Desk, having handled a number of liability disputes involving parties with interests in China.

Wendy regularly presents on issues arising from global supply chains and emerging liability risks.
