Orla McElroy

Orla specialises in subrogated property and motor damage recovery claims on behalf of Insurers. She also defends property claims and pursues fraudulent policyholders.

She has over 14 years’ insurance litigation experience advising clients across a range of sectors including retail, education and insurance. Her key clients include Aviva and MS Amlin.

Orla leads the Subrogated Recovery Claims Team in the Belfast office. The team provides a cost effective and innovative recovery process to include a screening report service at first notification of loss; undertaking vital investigatory work to secure key evidence; providing initial recovery advice on prospects of success; through to issuing proceedings against sub-contractors to recover insurers outlay where it is commercially viable. Orla’s team provides bespoke and meaningful management information which assist insurer clients to forecast anticipated recovery amounts to aid cash flow predications and budgeting.

Relevant experience includes:

• Advising clients on policy coverage to include indemnity issues and recovery prospects where their own policyholder has been fraudulent in order to recover indemnity spend.    
• Assisting clients with Missed Opportunity Reviews to maximise recoupment of expenditure.
