Biography
Mark is an insurance lawyer who specialises in the defence of professional negligence claims against a wide variety of professionals.
He has developed a particularly strong reputation in the defence of claims against insurance brokers and is regularly instructed to defend claims against some of the most high profile insurance brokers in the UK market.
Mark also has previous complex personal injury experience and is therefore often instructed in claims against solicitors arising out of lost opportunity personal injury claims. Mark’s experience also extends to the defence of claims made against accountants; particularly those arising from audit and tax related issues, including high profile tax avoidance schemes.
In addition to his contentious work, Mark is increasingly instructed to advise insurers on their policy wordings. His experience in this area ranges from drafting professional indemnity, buildings insurance, business interruption and film & media policies. His recent non-contentious experience also includes advising a leading UK insurer in respect of their potential exposure to future systemic risks (such as war, terrorism, extreme weather etc).
Notable cases that Mark has worked on include:
- School Facility Management Ltd & Others v Governing Body of Christ The King College & Isle of Wight Council [2020] EWHC 1118 (Comm);
- R(Hannah) v Chartered Institute of Taxation [2021] EWHC 1069 (Admin).
