    Kelsey is a commercial lawyer specialising in media, technology, and Internet governance, and is regarded as one of Europe's leading legal experts on synthetic (AI-generated) audiovisual content such as deepfakes. Her practice focuses on contract negotiations, intellectual property, and corporate transactions, most often for software and enterprise technology suppliers, digital media companies, financial services firms, healthcare organisations, and manufacturers of FMCGs. Kelsey also regularly supports on strategic business advisory work, to include those with contentious and reputational elements.

    Highlights of her work to date includes:

    • Advising the UK Government (Crown Commercial Service) on its vast media buying framework across all offline and online channels.
    • Advising an international software company on the UK export controls and sanctions regime applicable to dual-use technology.
    • Advising one of the world’s most popular cryptocurrencies on its intellectual property rights enforcement and reputation management strategy, as well as commercial arrangements and corporate structure.
    • Advising a medical technology company on the copyright and licencing issues surrounding the use of artificial intelligence algorithms and datasets for 3D facial generation.
    • Advising several of the UK’s largest insurance companies on the reputational and financial risks associated with deepfakes and other forms of synthetic media attack.
    • Advising a talent management and marketing agency on the full suite of its business contracts, to include influencer sponsorship arrangements.

    Kelsey’s expertise has also seen her:

    • Appear before the European Parliament's Science and Technology Options Assessment (STOA) Panel to advise on proposed deepfake regulation.
    • Author the chapter on personality (publicity) laws applicable to AI-generated film and television content, including holographic actors, for the European Audiovisual Observatory.
    • Author the practitioners’ guidance note on deepfakes for LexisNexis.
    • Author peer-reviewed publications on publicity laws for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice and The Licensing Journal.
    • Make media appearances on Channel 4's Dispatches, Channel 5 News, and BBC Radio 4.

    In 2023 Kelsey was named as one of 25 “Rising Stars – Top Female Lawyers in the UK” by Law.com.
