Karen has more than 20 years' experience of healthcare defence work. After qualifying in London, she acted for numerous Health Authorities and NHS Trusts, providing general advice on a wide range of issues and defending compensation claims.
She undertook claims work for NHS Resolution (formerly the NHS Litigation Authority) from its inception in 1995 and for several years thereafter.
Karen has since acted extensively for private healthcare providers, defending claims ranging in value from £10,000 to £12,000,000. She also has significant experience of assisting individual medical practitioners (on instructions from various MDOs) in the defence of claims.
Her current practice reflects her expertise in the defence of proceedings brought against individuals by the General Medical Council. This expertise also includes the representation of healthcare providers in criminal, judicial review and regulatory proceedings, at inquests and at public inquiries.
Karen qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and joined DAC Beachcroft in 2010.
