John Darmody

John specialises in corporate and commercial law.

He has extensive experience advising clients across a range of sectors including telecoms, renewables, technology and energy and infrastructure.

John advises on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganisations, private equity fundraising and investments, joint ventures and inward investment projects. He also advises on commercial agreements and on corporate governance and compliance issues.

Relevant experience includes advising:

• A leading commercial property services firm in relation to client contracts.
• An Irish renewable energy group on the creation and issue of up to €20 million convertible loan notes.
• An Irish renewable energy group in relation to its acquisition of a majority shareholding in a waste recovery company.
• On a complex group-reorganisation involving a business transfer, share acquisitions and two domestic mergers.
• On an inward and outward cross-border merger.

John is a member of the Law Society of Ireland and the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association. He is also admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales (non-practising). John has contributed to several legal articles and he lectured on the European Law Students’ Association law school in 2017.
