Alison Cassidy

Alison has over 15 years’ experience acting for clients across a range of insurance claims.  This has included assisting clients in the management of credit hire and motor claims and was involved in a number of the leading cases in this area.

Alison primarily specialises in large loss and complex personal injury claims including amputations, complex regional pain syndrome and fatal accidents.  Alison also advises clients on policy indemnity disputes and complex property recovery and defence litigation.  

Alison is actively involved in local policy affairs and was appointed to the Civil Justice Advisory Board in 2018.  Alison works closely with the ABI and the local insurance market  in respect of policy developments, including the Civil Justice Review in 2017 and more recently proposed changes to the personal injury discount rate in Northern Ireland.

Alison has been a guest speaker at Belfast Insurance Institute (BII) and Women in the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjustors (CILA) conferences.

 

Relevant experience includes:

  • Clarke v McCullough (2013) NICA 50 – the Court of Appeal’s leading judgement on duration of hire and the agency.
  • Nominated large loss handler in Northern Ireland for a number of leading insurers.
