Building on ongoing work in the blockchain and cryptocurrency world, including recent work for one of the world’s largest cryptocurrencies, DAC Beachcroft’s technology team have recently advised on a commercial deal relating to the execution of an auction of non-fungible tokens ("NFTs").

SameYou, Emilia and Jenny Clarke's charity which aims to help survivors of brain injuries and strokes, is expanding its revenue streams by looking to emerging technology. Through a collaboration with a new technology partner, they are raising funds through the sale of NFTs relating to Emilia Clarke's Versace dress, worn at the 2016 Emmys.

Alistair Cooper and Tim Ryan advised the client on this transaction, negotiating with lawyers in the US. Further information can be found here.

Tim Ryan, Partner and Head of Technology at DACB, said, "Not only is this a fascinating area of work, where law and commerce meet the latest emerging technology, it was particularly rewarding to work with the excellent team at SameYou.”

Jenny Clarke, CEO & Co-Founder of SameYou, added, "Tim and Alistair were terrific. They demonstrated exceptional client focus and responsiveness. They approached this with total commitment and expertise and helped us get this new fundraising project over the line at very short notice.”

DACB’s Technology and Media team is one of the UK’s largest, with over 40 lawyers advising clients in cutting-edge areas of tech such as NFTs, synthetic media, cryptocurrencies, and digital transformation. The team includes IT, regulatory, intellectual property and data protection experts who regularly advise on issues ranging from day-to-day contractual matters to complex special projects.
