DAC Beachcroft has appointed Heather Durston-Hillyer as the new Location Head for their Winchester office. Heather takes over from Matthew McGrath, and will serve a three-year term.

Heather specialises in clinical negligence claims defending a range of NHS and private health clients. She has 24 years’ experience advising NHS Resolution (formerly NHSLA), the Medical Defence Union and NHS Trusts across the South East of England.

DAC Beachcroft’s Winchester office, at Winton House, is the home office for 40 colleagues, and it is renowned for providing a preeminent service to the insurance and healthcare sectors in the South East.

Heather’s first term as Location Head will begin on 1 June 2021, at which time Matthew McGrath’s ten-year tenure as Location Head for the firm’s Winchester office will come to an end.

Commenting on her new role, Heather said, “Having worked from the Winchester office 24 years, I am delighted to be the new Location Head. Matthew’s long and successful tenure has ensured we have successfully maintained our long-standing relationships with health and insurer clients across the region, and I look forward to building on these with the team in Winchester.

“We have exciting times ahead, particularly with the launch of Flex Forward in the coming months which will see the firm introduce new ways of working to give all our colleagues the flexibility to design a life that works for them. Alongside this, our focus will be on retaining and attracting new talent, and creating an open and collaborative environment where talented people want to work. I believe that Winchester continues to have a bright and successful future.”

DAC Beachcroft’s Senior Partner Virginia Clegg added, “Congratulations to Heather on her appointment as Location Head. I look forward to our Winchester colleagues continuing to play an important role in contributing to the firm’s overall strategy.

“I would also like to thank Matthew for his many years of hard work as Location Head, and particularly during the pandemic. He has played a key role in supporting our colleagues and the business in Winchester and beyond.”
