John has held the position of Location Head for Scotland, which encompasses the firm’s Glasgow and Edinburgh offices, since 2015. His new term will begin on 1 May 2021.
John is a partner in DACB’s Glasgow office and he specialises in personal injury litigation for insurers, intermediaries and self-insureds in Scotland. He has over 30 years’ experience advising insurance clients in defending PI claims arising from motor and workplace accidents.
DAC Beachcroft Scotland specialises in insurance litigation and dispute resolution, commercial dispute resolution, professional negligence and real estate. Under John’s leadership the firm has experienced several years of growth in Scotland, winning new clients including MCE, Police Scotland and NFU Mutual and strengthening relationships with existing clients such as AXA, Aviva and Zurich. The firm has also more than doubled the number of partners it has based in Scotland in the past 18 months, in particular boosting its team of complex and catastrophic injury specialists with the hire of six partners from BLM.
In addition to overseeing the expansion of the firm in Scotland, John has been instrumental in developing bespoke solutions aimed at DACB’s Scottish clients, such as the recently launched Celtic customer care package, a suite of eight animations that explain the insurance claims litigation process for pursuers and witnesses.
Commenting on his reappointment, John said, “There have been many highlights during my six years as Location Head, and I am particularly proud of our considerable growth over the past few years.
“At DACB we want to be the place where talented people want to work, and I am privileged to lead the team in Scotland who have contributed so significantly to attracting new clients, ensuring the firm’s financial success, and achieving significant growth. I look forward to the next three years of progress and success.”
DAC Beachcroft’s Senior Partner Virginia Clegg added, “John has done an exceptional job in the role and I am very pleased that he has put himself forward for a third term. I look forward to working more with him to continue building our presence and capabilities in Scotland.”
