DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce the expansion of its Real Estate offering in Manchester with the hire of residential development partner Dan Kendall and the relocation of Gemma Leonard from its London office to head the North West Residential Development team.
Dan, a well-known residential development specialist with specific complex deal experience, joins from Knights plc, where he was a partner. His prior experience includes working in-house at developer Bovis Homes. Gemma, a specialist in private and affordable residential development, as well as mixed use and commercial property development, moves from the firm’s London office as the firm targets the North West as a key area for strategic growth.
Legal Director Dave Cogan also joins from Brabners, where he was a Legal Director dealing with all aspects of residential development. Previously, he was a Principal Lawyer with Manchester City Council working on their major regeneration schemes in Salford. He also worked for many years as company solicitor for a national house builder.
Gemma, who heads up Residential Development in the North West for DAC Beachcroft, said, “The North West residential market is a key target for us, which is why we have built a team with real credibility, experience and knowledge of the local market. With this team, we have a great foundation to build our resi practice in the North West into one which rivals our presence elsewhere in the UK.”
Dan added, “I’m excited to join DACB and be part of its wider strategic land and residential development team. The firm has an excellent reputation in the North West, as well as in the wider Real Estate market, and I am looking forward to helping the team expand its reach and capabilities further.”
DAC Beachcroft’s Real Estate offering in Manchester has grown significantly in recent years; in 2019 the firm also welcomed Real Estate partner Sally Morris-Smith from Shepherd & Wedderburn.
DAC Beachcroft’s Residential Development team acts for all of the top 11 housebuilders in the UK, offering the breadth and depth of experience to take on complex, long-term projects. The team is experienced in alternative asset classes, such as student accommodation, and PRS developments, including site acquisition, structuring and financing. In addition, the team supports private development and housebuilding clients with a dedicated house plots team and advises a number of local authorities in the North West on development projects.
