International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Starkey as a Non-Executive Director to the firm’s ten-member LLP Group Board. Ian replaces Ken Lever, who is retiring, and took up his position from 1 February 2019.
Ian is a highly respected audit professional with significant experience of governance in leading professional services organisations. He was most recently Global Lead Audit Partner at KPMG UK and Switzerland and previously held both Board Member and Non-Executive Board Member positions at KPMG Europe LLP and KPMG UK LLP, respectively.
DAC Beachcroft's LLP Group Board is the firm's senior governing body and is responsible for setting and monitoring the strategic direction of the business. It is led by Senior Partner Virginia Clegg and its other members include Managing Partner David Pollitt, Group Finance Director David Gillard, Newcastle Location Head David Weatherburn, Partners Udara Ranasinghe, Ben Daniels, Khurram Shamsee and Ruth Winterbottom, and Non-Executive Director Jenny Hill.
Commenting on Ian’s appointment, Virginia Clegg said, “Over the last few years we have made significant strides towards developing a more corporate approach to decision-making at Board level, while also preserving the key features of the firm’s LLP structure. Ian’s audit and governance background and experience will be invaluable as we continue to drive forward our strategy, and we are very pleased to have him on board.”
Following the business review undertaken by Virginia Clegg and David Pollitt after taking up their respective roles in 2015, DAC Beachcroft has established a clear purpose and strategy that are enabling the firm to deliver sustainable value, increasingly strong revenue growth, and international expansion. As part of the business review DAC Beachcroft Members also voted in 2017 to approve a new Membership Agreement for the business, under which DAC Beachcroft's LLP Board became the LLP Group Board – run by the Senior Partner.
