International law firm DAC Beachcroft LLP welcomed Lord Bourne of Aberystwyth, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), as a guest at its London offices yesterday (5 December) for a major seminar on the future of housing.Lord Bourne was part of a panel of experts looking at the Government's first major housing consultation following the publication of its closely-watched white paper, 'Planning for the Right Homes in the Right Places'. Also in attendance was Sarah Fox, Head of Planning Policy at DCLG, alongside an audience of key industry decision-makers.The interactive event provided developers with essential insight to help them navigate the next wave of planning reforms, including the new approach to standardising AON, Local Authority Statements of Common Ground, Viability assessments and Section 106 Agreements and the latest on revisions to the National Planning Policy Framework expected next spring.Christopher Stanwell, Head of Planning at DAC Beachcroft, said: "We are very grateful to both Lord Bourne and Sarah Fox for coming in and talking to us about the scope and scale of the Government's hugely important white paper.""What they said here today has highlighted the sheer breadth of reform that the Government is bringing forward and further underlined its desire to deliver 300,000 houses a year by the mid-2020's. It is also clear that the Government is acutely aware of the challenges in delivering this and, at DAC Beachcroft, we look forward to playing a key role in this vital process as it develops."
