New Commercial Court Practice Direction sets out requirements for the submission of Electronic Court Books

A new Commercial Court Practice Direction (HC113) was introduced on 14 April 2022, which supplements Practice Direction HC93 of July 2020. Practice Direction HC113 addresses the format of electronic books of papers and the manner in which they should be transmitted to the court.

Timeline for Implementation of Reforms outlined in Kelly Report

As practitioners will be aware the October 2020 Report of the Review of the Administration of Civil Justice (“The Kelly Report”), included in excess of 90 recommendations intended to reform the process of civil justice, with the objective of enabling speedier and more cost effective access to civil justice thereby reducing both the costs and delays associated with litigation in Ireland.

GDPR: use of CCTV footage in workplace disciplinary actions examined in recent Court of Appeal case

 The use of CCTV footage in the context of employment disciplinary procedures was recently considered by the Court of Appeal in Doolin v The Data Protection Commissioner [2022] IECA 117, following the appeal of an earlier decision from the High Court.
